(Either because the sale is still profitable to them, or they are afraid of, say, a lawsuit, or worse, with some third-party thugs coming it to enforce it). But in either case it does not hurt to follow up with a familiar saying, however insincere it really is! I will not get into “in any free transaction both parties are satisfied”, but if, say, a European business really lived to the latter motto, you should leave ASAP and not come back, same as with their other customers…
