At this point, it was simply blowing my mind that simply by speaking to people in a way that made them comfortable, I was being greeted with gratitude and such kindness. However, in Toledo, my family, my friends, and I were sat in a little bar-like restaurant, where we were ready to finally eat some traditional paella, when we saw a young mother sobbing profusely, panicking as she ran into the restaurant. Luckily for us, my family and I had spent the majority of MY life (Note: My family in this context refers to 40 year olds) in Arab countries, specifically in the GCC, so my mother had picked up Arabic fluently, whereas my arabic knowledge was limited, but still somewhat there.
