Around Jamundí are a lot of lots with houses in closed communities that can be an option if you have small kids: they will have a house as similar (or better, for them) that the one you can have in the States and definitely it will be an experience for them if you are European. Insects can be a problem if you get a place close to a sugar cane field, avoid them like the pest. If you decide to live there, around Jamundí, you will need mosquito nets, sugarcane or not.
