The sales rep looked down her nose at us, but she talked to us. She said we could leave my engagement ring with them, and a jeweler would make wedding rings. They’d be ready in about a week, and we could buy them or say we didn’t like them. We asked if we couldn’t see sketches first of what a jeweler would suggest. She exclaimed, “No! They are not drawers! They are not sketchers! They make jewelry!” We left. Later, we met a goldsmith and asked her if she would design rings for us. We told her the story, and she said that was ridiculous, that every jeweler was able to render their designs in drawings and sketches. She gave us sketches of a couple of ideas and asked if we liked them. We chose one, and she made our wedding rings.
