Still, I was sixteen, and dreams are strong. I got a really beautiful rose satin gown in the empire cut with puffed sleeves. I was a singer in high school, and so I signed up to play piano and sing “The Rose” for the prom. I nailed it, btw. I was so excited to have a really good time, even though only a few friends of mine were going. What the heck, you only live once, right?
