He dropped his dog off on a Tuesday afternoon. On Wednesday evening, he came into the salon and immediately began lecturing me in a raised voice. He claimed that he had come to the salon at 8:30 last night and a black female worker had refused to give him his dog back. I could only stare at him. I was the only employee he’d seen at the shop for six weeks by that point, and we hadn’t had a black woman working for us since the salon had opened. Not only that, the salon closed at 5:30 every evening – which again, was a constant since the salon was opened.
